As part of Campbell Arnott's commitment to the environment, all our manufacturing sites, as well as our corporate offices, are in the process of establishing Green Teams to investigate and realise environmental initiatives as part of Campbellís Global Sustainability Strategy.
Based on a Green Team model piloted at Huntingwood, three of our sites have already brainstormed more than one hundred energy saving initiatives for review in the coming months. Last year, Campbell Arnott's invested more than AU$1,000,000 in energy saving initiatives that delivered more than AU$400,000 worth of savings in energy costs per year.
Some of these initiatives included:
- Replacing fluorescent lights in Huntingwood with more efficient lighting
- Replacing warehouse lighting in Shepparton with more efficient LED lighting
- Installation of energy efficient hand driers in Virginia
- Window tinting to reduce air conditioning costs at Huntingwood
- Water saving and water harvesting in Marleston and Virginia
- Award winning Indonesia wastewater quality improvements
- Compressed air leak reductions in Huntingwood, which saved air compressor running costs.
Campbell's Environmental Sustainability Programs are focussed in five strategic areas:
1. Water Quality and Wastewater Treatment
2. Energy Use and Air Emissions Control
3. Solid Waste Recycling and Disposal
4. Sustainable Agriculture
5. Sustainable Packaging.
